Staff Internship Program
The purpose of the professional staff internship program is to provide staff in our division with insight into the day-to-day operations and professional competencies associated with an area or function outside of their current department. By participating in the professional staff internship program, staff will be given the opportunity to explore alternative career choices and enhance their marketable skills and confidence.
Expectations of an Internship
- The internship arrangement should be mutually beneficial to the staff intern as well as the internship supervisor/department.
- Staff interns should receive sufficient training to enable them to serve as a productive team member at the internship site.
- The internship supervisor and staff intern are to remain in communication with each other throughout the duration of the internship.
- The internship supervisor and staff intern should meet regularly to evaluate performance and ensure expectations are being met during the internship.
- The internship supervisor should provide constructive feedback to the staff intern to ensure learning and development.
- Approval from the staff intern’s department supervisor is required prior to starting an internship in another department.
